Assam to introduce file tracking system

Assam government has decided to introduce “File tracking” mechanism as part of its effort to bring in transparency in governance and to allow common people track the position of a file.

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah informed Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during a meeting held at the State Assam Secretariat yesterday. Mr Sarmah said, once this new system is inducted in the Finance Department, it will be replicated in all the departments of the State government.

An official statement said that the Finance Department will also take recourse to ‘on-line’ system to prepare budget and distribute the same to all offices and maintain a constant link with the Reserve Bank of India through a Core Banking Solution ‘e-Kuber’.

Besides taking help of ‘on-line’ mode for preparing salary bills, preparation for a comprehensive data base for all government employees are in the agenda of priorities of the department.
